This medium sized vase is wheel thrown in fine white clay. The surface has been hand illustrated in with a blue watercolour wash using the majolica technique. The large flower depicted is an Australian native Hibiscus. Gold lustre has been added to the rim and the foot ring and fired a third time.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Frances Smith is an accomplished Australian ceramic artist and teacher. She is academically trained with degrees and diplomas in graphic design and ceramic arts. She now lives and works in the beautiful NSW seaside village of Kiama.
